Central Luzon Chapter

OUR HISTORY


The Philippine Pediatric Society – Central Luzon Chapter ( Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija was established on November 21,1971. The founding president, Dr Leticia C. Yap, travelled around the dirt roads of Central Luzon to organize a handful of pediatricians that would later become the pillars of the chapter. The following year, 1972, she invited Dr. Rolando S. Songco, a fellow Kapampangan, a professor at UST College of Medicine and owner of the Hospital of the Infant Jesus, to help steer the fledging group. It aimed to be more organized structure, geared towards continuing pediatric education not only among pediatricians but also among family physicians in pediatric practice. Moreover, social activities in the form of medical missions and teaching health workers in the far-flung municipalites of the 6 provinces were also started.
