National Allergy Day 2016
July 8 is National Allergy Day (NAD) as declared in the Presidential Proclamation No. 1313 last July 8, 2007 by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. It is an annual event held to increase the awareness and educate Filipinos on the growing problems of allergies among adults and children. The Philippine Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (PSAAI) has been at the forefront of this endeavor tailored especially for the day.
To kick-start this year’s nationwide celebration, PSAAI will celebrate National Allergy Day on July 3, 2016. It will be held at Fishermall, Quezon Avenue, Quezon City, from 10AM to 6PM. This year’s theme will focus on “Allergies, The Environment and You”. The title of the event is “#KALIKASANCHANGES #ALLERGYPAMORE #AKOANGSOLUSYON”.
There will be exhibit booths, a wall art and a coloring contest for art enthusiasts, games, a puppet show by Kuya Ony and Kulas together with their favorite allergist Dr. Shirley Kwong-Buizon and lots of prizes! The interactive lectures will feature Allergy Signs and Symptoms by Dr Maria Cristina Edquilag, Allergen Triggers in the Home, School by Dr Frances Palabrica and Allergen Triggers in the Workplace by Dr Pauline Santos Estrella. And finally, practical tips on how we can help address the issue of climate change in the segment Ako ang Solusyon by Dr Racquel Young So. The event will be hosted by funny man Mr Roden Araneta and our very own Dr Kristine Gutierrez. Dr Eric Tayag will also grace the occasion.
